New Way Stationary Engines

Aim - To serve and support the New Way Stationary Engine restoration community.
There was a New Way Stationary Motor inclined to Hit and Miss. It was designed that way but intermittently it would missfire and this in the confines of the beekeepers shed fired my imagination, grabbing my senses. I just loved the sound of the New Way 3.5Hp working - likely fuelled by a too rich mixture.
With each missfire came the tell tale puff of blue smoke and via the old sawbench, the beekeeping manufacturing business was underway, alive and well. Alf was in his element. Romance, nah, hard work but Hoots the New Way went a long way in firing the imagination of times past running in the present. The present, after all, that's where life is, it's not in the past, but romancing the past, that's the present if you're living it.
The priveledge of life. Present and past is now!!! - alive.

New Way Engine Configuration to Cancer Council Rally

New Way Motor produced at various stages of their production runs, 4 basic Engine configurations covering a horse power range from 1 to 12Hp.
These were:-
  1. Single Cylinder Vertical
  2. Twin Cylinder Horizontal
  3. Single Cylinder Horizontal
  4. Twin Cylinder Vertical
REGISTRY CHART
An Engine Configuration chart has been added to the Registry page to highlight the number of motors registered in each of these four major configurations. Twin verticals are well in the minority. Here is a current example of the chart.


Off to the end of the EARTH - I've joined the Cancer Council "Shitbox" Rally covering 4 states of Australia - desert runners. Australia - that country where a ranch [Cattle Station] can be bigger than the US state of Texas. For those of you who may be culturally challenged by the descriptive name of the rally, simply put, the cars in the rally must be old ($1000) vehicles but roadworthy. (old cars with walking sticks - the garbage end of the sales yard) Contractually if you turn up in a car obviously worth more than $1000 you are given a dollar for it and disqualified. (no fancy competitor cars in this one) We spend much of our time on dirt roads much of which has been flooded recently and we even have about 12 meter desert dunes to negotiate. Myself - Driving the Ambulance. No $1000 wreck for me. Should be a great rally of 1000s of miles, much in the desert or the outback - bush/scrub/forest/rain forest. I'd say breakdowns all the way - driving Australia's wild front ear. Davey Crocket would have been proud of the Land Down Under. He'd probably even recognise the rig - FORD F250.  As you can see there are radio aerials all over the rig - all for the outback run - even the RFDS are on the waves. (Royal Flying Doctor Service). These are the fly in fly out doctors of Outback Australia where a doctor is probably rarer than a flea on a tick's back.

There are 200 cars and about 7 support vehicles of various types including the one I am driving.
Have a look at the site and see something of the Aussie Down Under - where roads would be rivers and rivers can be well over 20 - miles wide for mile upon mile.
